Point Park women's basketball signs transfer Maura McCaslin from Pitt-Titusville

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University women's basketball has signed another transfer as Maura McCaslin, a 5-8 guard who spent the last two years at Pitt-Titusville, will join the Pioneers for the upcoming 2011-12 season. McCaslin is a native of Moniteau, Pa., and a graduate of Moniteau High School.

"Maura McCaslin is a true basketball player," said Point Park head coach Tony Grenek. "She doesn't make many mistakes. She's as tough as nails and always comes through during crunch time. Along with her basketball abilities, her 3.7 grade-point average means we are bring in another solid student-athlete to Point Park."

McCaslin played point guard at Pitt-Titusville the last two years. She averaged 6.2 assists per game, which ranked second nationally in the USCAA. McCaslin's 2.54 steals per game ranked 24th in the country. She will be a junior for the Point Park this coming season.

As a senior at Moniteau HS, McCaslin was named to the 2009 District 9 Third Team by the website D9sports.com. She was a four-year starter on the Moniteau basketball team, and she was a starter in softball for three years. McCaslin majors in secondary education-mathematics.

McCaslin is the second transfer to come to Point Park this year, and both have ties to Butler County. In addition to McCaslin from Northern Butler County, the Pioneers also got a committment from Katresa Savisky (F, 5-9, So.), a native of Butler, Pa., and a transfer from Butler County CC.

Grenek, who was hired May 5 after five years as the top assistant at NCAA Division II Seton Hill, is a native of Butler, Pa.,
