WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. -- Carlow University had a 49-47 lead with 6:43 remaining, but Point Park University closed the game on a 22-3 run to run away with a 69-52, KIAC victory at CCAC-South on Tuesday night.

It was the 13th win in the last 15 games for Point Park, which improved to 17-4 overall and 10-3 KIAC. Point Park scored 19 points in a row to clinch the game, 66-49, with 1:55 left.

Point Park was up, 34-30, at the half and in what was a back-and-forth game, the Pioneers worked a 10-point lead of 45-35 with 13:08 remaining.  But that's when Point Park went cold from the field. Carlow's 14-2 run gave the Celtics their last lead of 49-47 before the Pioneers ran off their 19-0 spurt.

All five Point Park starters scored in double figures led by point guard April Austin with 16 points. Emily Schartner and Katresa Savisky had 13 apiece with Savisky getting a double-double with 13 rebounds.

Ja'Nia McPhatter added 14 points and eight rebounds, and Teresa Davis chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds to power the Pioneers to a 9-1 home record so far this year.

Lynzi Mueller had 14 points to lead Carlow, and Chanel Berry added 10 off the bench. Point Park led in rebounds, 48-30, but the rest of the team statistics were relatively even. Point Park shot 41 percent to Carlow's 38 percent. Carlow's 18 turnovers were just four more than Point Park's 14.

Outisde of a brief 32-22, first-half lead for Point Park, the teams were not separated by more than a couple of possessions for much of the game. After getting the deficit to four by halftime, Carlow fell behind by double digits again with the Pioneers' 11-3 run to open the second half.

But the double-digit lead didn't last long for Point Park as Carlow scored the next 10 points to pull even at 45-45. The teams tradeD a couple of baskets before the Pioneers turned it on.
