PITTSBURGH -- Amanda Larkin of Baldwin High School signed with Point Park University women's basketball and head coach Tony Grenek as an early signee last fall.
Larkin is 5-foot-8 guard who will be freshman for the Pioneers for the 2015-16 season. A four-year starter at Baldwin, the Pittsburgh, Pa., native averaged 14.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game for the Highlanders.
"Amanda is a very capable shooter and scorer," said coach Grenek. "She also has nice size and length for an off guard. Coming from Baldwin, she played against excellent WPIAL Quad-A competition, and her teams were always playoff bound and successful. She's going to be an excellent player for our program."
Larkin played for former Point Park men's basketball player Gavin Prosser at Baldwin. As one of only two seniors on the team last year, she helped the Highlanders to a 15-10 record (10-4 section) and an appearance in the PIAA state playoffs.
Larkin earned four letters and was second-team WPIAL all-section at Baldwin. She also played AAU basketball for the Western PA Bruins.
Point Park women's basketball is a member of the NAIA and the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Pioneers have had recent success with a record of 102-24 (.809) the last four years under Grenek. The Pioneers won three straight conference championships and qualified for the NAIA Division II National Championship three straight years from 2011-14.
Point Park is coming off a 25-5 record last year, which included an appearance in the KIAC Tournament semifinals. Follow the Pioneers on Twitter @PointParkSports #PPUWBB #PPUHOOPS
