#23 Point Park draws #10 Corban (Ore.) in NAIA Division II National Tournament

PITTSBURGH --The Point Park University women's basketball team, ranked No. 23 in Wednesday's Final NAIA Division II Top 25 Poll of the regular season, has drawn No. 10 Corban (Ore.) University in the first round of the 21st Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II National Championship.
The Pioneers (23-6) will face Corban (23-7) in the first round of the national tournament on Thursday, March 8 at 7 p.m. CT at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. It will be the 15th of 16 first-round games and the 7th of 8 games on Day 2 of the event.
Point Park is in the national tournament for the first time and got there by virture of its American Mideast Conference Tournament Championship. Corban, located in Salem, Ore., is in the national tourney for the fourth time and qualified as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Regular Season Champion. The Warriors were the runners-up in the CCC Tournament. They are 0-3 in the national tournament all time.
The 32-team team field is divided into four, eight-team pods. Point Park is a #6 seed in the bottom portion of the bracket. Corban is a #3 seed. The No. 1 seed in Point Park's bracket is Concordia (Neb.) (31-2), the No. 2 overall team in NAIA Division II.
The Point Park-Corban winner will get the winner of the Grand View (Iowa)-Saint Mary (Neb.) first-round game Friday, March 9 at 8:45 p.m. Grand View (28-5) is ranked No. 7 in the Final Top 25 Poll, and Saint Mary (22-10) is just outside the rankings at No. 26. Grand View is the #2 seed in Point Park's bracket, and Saint Mary is the #7.
The national tournament will be contested at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa from March 7-13.
The tournament field consists of 21 automatic bids related to conferences and 11 at-large bids. The at-large bids were based on the Final Top 25 Poll, which was released Feb. 29 at 4 p.m. ET. Point Park was No. 23 in that ranking.
