PITTSBURGH – Point Park University women’s golf head coach Gabe Bubon announced that Taylor Cormas and Ashley Funkhouser have committed to the Pioneers. Both players will be freshman starting this fall.
Cormas is a 2010 graduate of Norwin High School, where she was a three-year member of the golf team. Funkhouser is a 2010 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, although her school did not field a girls’ golf team.

“Taylor Cormas has a good background as a three-year player at Norwin,” said Bubon, who was named the head coach when the women’s golf program was initiated last summer. “She is capable of stepping in and helping us right away.”

“Ashley Funkhouser did not have a chance to play high school golf, but she has a strong desire to be a part of our team and get better,” said Bubon. “She is a capable player, and we are glad to have her.”
The Point Park women’s golf program was inaugurated in the summer of 2009. The recently completed 2009-10 season was the first year ever for women’s golf at the school.
The home course for the Point Park golf programs is Quicksilver Golf Club in Midway, Pa.
