Point Park women place 3rd of 4 teams at W&J golf tournament

CANONSBURG, Pa. -- The Point Park University women's golf team placed third of four teams at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational on Monday at Southpointe Golf Club.
The Pioneers shot a team score of 445, which was behind champion Grove City at 406 and host Washington & Jefferson at 421. Westminster was fourth at 458.
Freshman Emily Slifka placed fifth individually with a 97. The native of Blairsville, Pa., was seven shots behind medalist Pamela Bonneau of Westminster and was one of only five players to break 100 on the challenging track.
Point Park's Caroline Collins tied for 12th with a 109. The Pioneers' lineup of four freshmen and one sophomore included Chloe Callison (117), Lauren Martauz (122) and Ashley Funkhouser (139).
Point Park's next competition is Friday and Saturday (April 20-21) at the Unaffiliated Group Tournament in Kendalville, Ind. There the Pioneers will compete at Glendarin Hills Golf Resort for a spot in the NAIA national tournament that will be awarded to the winner.
