Houghton routs Point Park women, 7-1, in AMC soccer game

HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton College raced out to a 4-0 lead en route to a 7-1 victory over Point Park University in an American Mideast Conference women's soccer game Saturday.
Houghton (10-4-2 overall, 7-1-1 AMC) has lost only once in nine conference games thus far. Point Park is now 3-12 overall and 0-9 in league play.
Jen Hudson scored twice in the first 13 minutes for the Highlanders, and the first tally came in the 7th minute. Houghton went on to lead, 3-0, at halftime before staking a 4-0 lead just 1:25 into the second half.
Point Park's lone goal cut the deficit to 4-1 in the 58th minutes. Junior Lauren Evans, a forward from Munhall, Pa.., scored her fourth goal of the year when she was on the receiving end of a pass forward Kileigh Williams, a freshman from Marion, Ind.
But over the next three minutes, Houghton scored three goals for a 7-1 lead. Kaylin Bull scored the first two, with assists from Hudson, and Hudson registered a hat trick by putting in Houghton's seventh goal.
Point Park visits Mountain State on Monday for a non-conference match involving a pair of NAIA schools. Point Park beat Mountain State, 7-0, at home last season.
The Pioneers conclude their season Oct. 30 at home vs. Notre Dame (OH). Game time for the season finale is 5 p.m., and Point Park will honor its five seniors for Senior Night.
