Point Park drops AMC game at Cedarville, 4-0

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Cedarville scored three goals in the second half to pull away and beat visiting Point Park University, 4-0, in an American Mideast Conference women's soccer game Saturday.
Point Park (1-6 overall, 0-3 AMC) trailed by just a goal at halftime, but Cedarville (5-6, 3-1 AMC) put things out of reach, beginning in the 55th minute, which was the time of the first of three second-half goals.
Cedarville, which improved to 3-1 in the AMC, set the early tone by scoring in the eighth minute. The Yellow Jackets had four different players score goals and held a 30-2 advantage in shots. Point Park did not register a shot on goal.
Point Park's Liz Velez (McKean/General McLane) got the start in goal, and she played the first 76 minutes before leaving the game due to injury. The junior who had nine saves in the game was kicked in the face in what was a serious injury.
Freshman Anna Shaw (Mingo Junction, OH/Steubenville Cath. Cent.) finished up the last 14 minutes in goal and made two saves.
Point Park gets back in action Tuesday by hosting crosstown rival Carlow for an AMC game at 7 p.m.
