BEAVER FALLS -- Geneva College remained unbeaten in nine games by shutting out Point Park University, 2-0, Thursday night in a non-conference women's soccer game.
The home-standing Golden Tornadoes improved to 8-0-1 by putting in two goals in the second half. The game remained scoreless for the first 56:55 before Rebecca Shaw scored the eventual game-winner for Geneva.
Geneva added a second goal in the 78th minute on a strike by Elise Mann to put the game out of reach for Point Park (1-4, 0-1 AMC).
Geneva, members of NCAA Division III and the Presidents' Athletic Conference, doubled up Point Park in the shot department with a 24-12 lead in that category.
Point Park's Colleen Poploski (Bethel Park/Bethel Park) and Lauren Evans (Munhall/Steel Valley) led the Pioneers' attack with four shots apiece. All four of Poploski's shots came on goal.
Point Park freshman goalkeeper Anna Shaw (Mingo Junction, OH/Steubenville Catholic Central) got the start, and she made 10 saves the first half. Junior Liz Velez (McKean/General McLane) came on in the second half and had three saves.
The Pioneers will try to get things back on track in their next game, which is scheduled for Tuesday at home versus AMC foe Malone. Game time at Founders Field is 5 p.m. in that game, Point Park will try to even its conference record at 1-1 and snap a four-game slide.
Thursday's game at Geneva had been originally scheduled for Sept. 16, but it was postponed that date due to lightning.
