GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Point Park University women's soccer saw its school-record, five-game win streak come to an end with Monday's 1-0 loss at non-conference Georgetown (Ky.).
Georgetown (6-7, 2-2 Mid-South Conf.) had only three shots in the game, one of which came on Zoe Stovik's goal in the 57th minute. Stovik's strike came off an assist from Elise McKinney and was the only shot of the second half for Georgetown.
The lone goal was enough to send Point Park (7-8, 3-1 KIAC) home with the loss despite the fact that it was just the second goal given up by the Pioneers in their last 596 minutes of action.
It was a defensive battle with not much offense as the Pioneers held a 6-3 advantage in shots. Megan Kuntz had four of Point Park's shots, and each team registered two shots on goal in all.
The Pioneers had goalkeeper Erica Roney play the first half with one save. Mackenzie Pinto played the second half but did not come up with a save.
Point Park gets back into action Friday-Saturday with a road trip to play non-conference St. Catharine (Ky) and KIAC opponent Brescia (Ky.).
