BOX SCORE

PITTSBURGH -- The Point Park University women's soccer team was shut out by Eastern Oregon, 2-0, Wednesday in an NAIA, non-conference game at Highmark Stadium.

Point Park (1-4, 0-0 KIAC) and Eastern Oregon (3-0, 0-0 CCC) each had nine shots, but the Pioneers couldn't get one to go even though they held a big advantage in shots the second half.

Point Park trailed virtually from the start as Erika Whitehurst pounded home a cross that could not be cleared for a 1-0 lead after just 1:23 had been expired. Tori Fedora assisted on the play.

The EOU lead increased to 2-0 on an own goal in the 18th minute. Point Park again had trouble getting the ball out of the penalty area, this time off a rebound from a Fedora shot that hit the cross bar.

Down 2-0 at the half, Point Park turned up its attack and held an 8-3 advantage in shots the final 45 minutes. But Mountaineers' goalkeeper Kailey Moss pitched the shutout with seven saves in 90 minutes. Moss had six of her seven saves after halftime.

Eastern Oregon held a 6-1 advantage in shots in the opening half and led in corners for the game, 9-2. It was the second time this year that the Pioneers were shutout, and they have a total of five goals in five games.

Wednesday's game was the first of three games in four days for the Pioneers. Point Park opens KIAC play this weekend by hosting Berea (Ky.) Friday at 5 p.m. and Midway (Ky.) Saturday at 12 p.m. Admission is Free at Highmark Stadium for both games.
