VIENNA, W.Va. -- The Point Park University women's soccer team had its three-game winning streak and its long stretch of not giving up a goal snapped in Monday's 1-0 loss at Ohio Valley in a non-conference game.
Point Park (7-3, 3-0 KIAC) had won three in a row, and when Gilda Arendes scored the game's only goal for Ohio Valley (2-11) in the 59th minute, it was the first goal the Pioneers gave up in 334 minutes of soccer.
The Pioneers led Ohio Valley in shots, 15-7, and also had the edge in corner kicks, 6-0. But Point Park could not put in any of its eight shots on goal. Ohio Valley registered three shots on goal.
Point Park's last three games were all won by shutout, including last Friday's 6-0 victory at non-conference Salem International. Before that, the Pioneers beat conference opponents Brescia (Ky.), 3-0, and Midway (Ky.), 7-0, to improve to 3-0 in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Point Park returns to action on Wednesday when it visits Seton Hill (4 p.m.). The Pioneers are 1-2 versus NCAA Division II schools and will look to even that record versus the Griffins.
