PITTSBURGH -- For her big performance in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament on Saturday, Point Park University sophomore midfielder Alyson Joyce was named the KIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 28-Nov. 4, the league announced on Monday (Nov. 4).
Joyce, from Medina, Ohio, picked a great time for her first two goals of the year as she came up big with two goals, one assist and five points in the Pioneers' 5-0 KIAC Tournament Quarterfinals victory over Brescia (Ky.) University at home Saturday.
Joyce delivered a corner kick to assist on Point Park's first goal of the night, and she found the back of the net for a 2-0 lead midway through the first half. Joyce added another goal early in the second half to put the game out of reach.
Joyce's performance lifted the No. 3 seed Pioneers to the KIAC Tournament semifinals, where they will meet No. 2 seed Carlow Nov. 5. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Highmark Stadium. The winner moves on to the KIAC Tournament finals Nov. 9.
