Assistant Tenure Track Professor / Musical Theatre/Coordinator of Private Voice

The Theatre Department in the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University is seeking a full-time assistant professor in Musical Theatre Voice. This is a tenure–track appointment beginning in the fall of 2024. Applicants must have a terminal degree or its equivalent and have relevant professional experience. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching collegiate level applied lessons, extensive knowledge of vocal pedagogy & vocal styles for musical theatre, excellent administrative ability to coordinate numerous voice studios and students, and a collaborative work ethic. The position includes the teaching of private and group voice lessons, and the position will serve as the Coordinator of Voice, overseeing private voice instructors and developing the voice program, as well as theatre and dance students studying group and private voice. Special consideration will be given to candidates who are knowledgeable in multiple styles and periods of musical theatre and pop/rock/country/R&B with technical knowledge/pedagogical skill to train students in classical and contemporary Broadway singing as preparation for careers in the industry. Additional duties include advising, and departmental/university committee service.

About the Department and Program: Housed within the Theatre Department of Point Park University’s prestigious Conservatory of Performing Arts, the Musical Theatre program offers a rigorous B.F.A. that combines performance experience with intense training by internationally recognized master teachers, directors, and choreographers. The department offers B.F.A. degrees in theatre arts, acting, musical theatre and theatre production. The department’s mission focuses on fostering a highly collaborative artistic environment. The B.F.A. in musical theatre is an eight-semester sequence, which places a strong emphasis in all areas of musical theatre: acting, music and dance; and is designed to prepare graduates for a career in the professional theatre.
