The Department of Education in the School of Arts and Sciences at Point Park University is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty member in Research Methodology. The candidate will begin in the fall of 2015. In particular, we are seeking a professional with a strong background in qualitative methods, both in teaching and guiding doctoral research.

About the Program: In fall 2014 the Department of Education began its first Ed.D. in Leadership and Administration. It is a 54 credit program, serving both K-12 educators seeking PA administrative certifications and other mid to upper level leaders in for profit and non profit fields that have some connection to education, including adult education. The program has been an immediate success, attracting far more qualified applicants that it could serve in the first cohort. We anticipate, therefore, both quantitative and qualitative dissertation interests, so this position enhances the complement of research faculty at the university. The candidate will be a member of the Department of Education faculty.
Qualifications: Point Park University is a private institution with a dedicated teaching faculty. Applicants must possess an earned doctorate in a relevant field of study from an accredited institution. Prior teaching experience at the graduate, preferably doctoral level, is required. Prior experience in teaching research methods courses is also preferred. Demonstrated ability to engage in research and publications is required. The ability to work in a collegial setting with fellow faculty and doctoral students is a must. Prior dissertation committee service is highly desirable. Duties: The successful candidate will provide evidence of excellence in teaching, ongoing scholarship, and professional development. We also welcome candidates who have related industry experience. Responsibilities will include teaching research methods, advising, dissertation service, program assessment, and early development of a research center that will house quantitative and qualitative research software for faculty and doctoral research.
