TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN ACTING/VOICE

The Position: The Theatre Department in the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University is seeking a full-time assistant professor specializing in acting, with an additional expertise in voice or movement, or both.This is a tenure-track appointment beginning in the Fall of 2013. Duties include teaching and coaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, student advising, recruitment, and committee service. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of the Stanislavski technique and offers expertise in at least one other acting approach (Meisner, Chekhov, etc.); extensive background and certification in one or more of the primary voice and speech pedagogies (Linklater, Fitzmaurice, etc.), including dialects and IPA, and/or movement disciplines (Suzuki, Laban, Viewpoints, etc.). We seek a colleague with imagination and ideas to join a collaborative faculty in renewing our acting program. Our acting program is a rigorous sequence of studies focusing on individual artistic development and acquiring professional skills.

Requirements: MFA or PhD. degree in Acting and/or Theatre and substantial professional credentials. Candidates should be engaged in ongoing creative work in the theatre field, and will have a record of successful teaching at the university level for at least three years.
