Assistant Professor - Cinema & Digital Arts, Producing:
The Cinema & Digital Arts Department in the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University seeks a full-time, tenure-track professor to begin Fall 2012 at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach intermediate and advanced producing courses for both cinema production and screenwriting majors, with the opportunity to teach additional courses in a diversity of cinema-related disciplines. Special consideration will be given to candidates with a background in producing for narrative formats such as feature-length film, television, and/or new media. An ideal candidate for the position will have an MFA in film or other appropriate, related terminal degree. Significant professional experience and a record of successful teaching at the university level are also strongly desired.
With over 250 full-time undergraduate students, the Cinema & Digital Arts Department is one of three departments in the University’s prestigious and nationally recognized Conservatory of Performing Arts. The department offers B.A. degrees in cinema production, screenwriting and digital arts. Acceptance into the programs are competitive, portfolio-based and at the discretion of the Cinema faculty. Once enrolled, Cinema students follow a rigorous 8-term course sequencing that requires extensive crew collaboration, creative and technical mastery, as well as artistic vision and execution.
