Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Musical Theatre/Movement
The Position: The Theatre Department in the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University is seeking a full-time assistant professor specializing in musical theatre, with an additional expertise in stage movement. This is a tenure-track appointment beginning in the Fall of 2014. Duties include teaching and coaching at the undergraduate level, student advising, recruitment, and committee service. Candidates should be able to teach musical theatre techniques including scene study, song analysis and audition technique. The ideal candidate will have knowledge, experience and ability to coach the range of musical theater styles and repertoire from golden era to contemporary and pop/rock as well as familiarity with acting methodologies. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in one or more recognized movement training system(s). We seek a colleague with imagination and ideas to join a group of collaborative faculty, staff and students. Our training program is a rigorous sequence of studies focusing on individual artistic development and acquiring professional skills.
Requirements: MFA in Musical Theatre, Acting, Directing, or Movement with substantial professional credentials. Candidates should be engaged in ongoing creative work in the theatre field, and will have a record of successful teaching at the university level for at least three years.
