The position: The Conservatory of Performing Arts of Point Park University is seeking a tenure track musical theatre performance/voice teacher to start in the Fall of 2010. The successful candidate will also oversee the private voice unit for the department. The musical theatre component (the others being acting and design/tech/stage management) of the Conservatory is a rigorous training program for the professional actor/singer/dancer with a heavy emphasis placed on a strong blend of music and acting techniques. Distinguishing the Conservatory is its integrated association with the Rep Company, an AEA resident company, housed in the historic Pittsburgh Playhouse.
Responsibilities: Administering the private voice faculty/curriculum, teaching private voice, vocal coaching for the NY showcase, and teaching musical theatre performance classes. If qualified, the candidate may also be asked to musical direct in our Conservatory season.
Requirements: Terminal degree is desirable, but an MM with extensive professional experience will be considered. The ideal candidate will have considerable experience in the professional and/or academic theatre and should have piano skills.
