The Department of Education is seeking a candidate for a full-time, tenure-track position, beginning the 2011-2012 academic year. Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. Accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and Middle States, the Education department has a demonstrated track record of program innovation meeting the educational needs of traditional students and working professionals. Located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh, we partner with some of the largest and most innovative school districts. We are looking for a high-energy educator to join and collaborate with our team.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or Ed.D. required, with a preference for Early Childhood and Elementary Education teaching certifications. Preference will be given to candidates with strong content expertise in reading and language arts, along with a minimum of five (5) years teaching experience in PreK-4 and/or Grades 4-8.
Candidate must be familiar with a broad range of continuous assessment techniques, current research and knowledge of best practices in teaching and supervision, differentiated instruction, and the use of technology in the Pre-K-4 and Grades 4-8 classroom.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be required to teach a minimum of 12 credits per semester in the department’s undergraduate programs. Candidates will also be responsible for all duties associated with faculty status at the university level, including specific duties as outlined by the Point Park University Faculty Handbook.
