Endowed Professorship in Accounting & Finance

The Position:  Point Park University School of Business is seeking a dynamic and dedicated accounting/finance professional for the inaugural appointment to the George Rowland White Endowed Professorship in Accounting & Finance.   The successful candidate will lead the School’s efforts to launch the Urban Accounting Initiative – a significant strategic program established to stimulate enrollment and interest in accounting as a profession among high school and prospective college students, with a particular emphasis on women and minorities.

Qualifications:  The successful applicant should be an accomplished and widely respected financial management and accounting practitioner, with an established professional network.  We are particularly seeking experienced professionals who are passionate about their discipline, and view this position as an opportunity to contribute to his/her profession through the active enlistment of young people to a career in accounting and financial management.  

We seek someone who will be actively engaged in dialogue and consultancy with the business community and who will be a quality contributor to the advancement of industry practices in the field, as evidenced by community engagement efforts, conference participation and professional publications.  The faculty member can also expect to participate in the development of undergraduate and graduate programs in the field.

Responsibilities:  The George Rowland White Endowed Professorship will work closely with community members of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the School of Business to advance discussions with local educational institutions, the African American Chamber of Commerce, and local firms in order to develop a long term strategy for promoting accounting and finance careers among local students.  In addition to this new initiative, the successful candidate will be a highly visible contributor and consultant to the advancement of financial and accounting practices in the local business community, as well as serve as a respected expert and advisor in these fields.

This position is expected to collaborate with fellow faculty members, including the development of networking and advisory opportunities within the business community.  The successful applicant will also contribute to the development of new curriculum in the areas of corporate finance, investments, and financial accounting.

This position will report directly to the Dean of the School of Business for duties involving the Urban Accounting Initiative and related community engagement.  The successful candidate will also serve as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council, working with members to advance initiatives within the accounting and finance fields. 

The successful candidate will receive appropriate release time to serve as the program director for the Urban Accounting Initiative.  S/he will also teach coursework in the undergraduate degree programs. Teaching course load and other faculty duties are as assigned and subject to review in the Faculty Handbook.
