The Department of Natural Sciences and Engineering Technology of Point Park University seeks applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Laboratory Instructor.
The chosen candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, biotechnology or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates possessing a master’s degree.
Successful candidates must have demonstrated excellence in developing and teaching laboratory courses in a broad range of areas of the natural sciences to a diverse student population. Specific teaching responsibilities within the Natural Sciences programs would include introductory laboratory courses in biology and chemistry. During the Fall and Spring semesters the Laboratory Instructor will teach six (6) laboratory courses each semester and two (2) laboratory courses in the summer as assigned by the department chair. Willingness to teach day, evening and Saturday courses is expected. Knowledge of, and willingness to use, course management software is required.
Cooperation with other faculty in ongoing multi-level assessment and program development is a principal expectation. Other responsibilities include maintaining office hours for students, inventory control, ensuring compliance with all appropriate OSHA and EPA guidelines, curriculum development, university-wide service and professional development.
