Visiting Artist – Jazz Dance: The Dance Department in the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University invites applications for a full-time, one-year sabbatical replacement position to begin Fall 2012 at the rank of Visiting Artist.
The successful candidate will possess a BA, BFA, or MFA degree in Dance with an emphasis in Jazz and a minimum of three years teaching experience and professional performance background including five years on Broadway or with an established dance company. Candidates must be able to teach all levels of jazz dance technique. Teaching ability and experience in the following areas is also desired: Repertoire, Choreography, Pedagogy, Composition, Kinesiology, or Tap.
Point Park University is a fully accredited institution located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Conservatory of Performing Arts offers BA and BFA degrees with concentrations in Ballet, Jazz and Modern Dance. Students perform with the resident Conservatory Dance Company in six concerts each year. The dance program at Point Park University is professionally oriented, and all students accepted into the program should expect a level of training and discipline that reflects this intensity. In addition to dance technique and related classes, students take part in a strong academic curriculum, which provides the skills needed for success in today’s world and also addresses social, cultural and political issues.
