Visiting Artist – Cinema Arts, Directing

The Cinema Arts Department in the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University invites applications for a non-tenure track, full-time, one-year position to begin Fall 2015 at the rank of Visiting Artist.

The successful candidate will be able to teach the full range of courses in the Department’s Directing Concentration, as well as general filmmaking courses with a narrative focus at the introductory and intermediate level. The position also requires participation in departmental service and advising, though no University Committee service.  An ideal candidate for the position will have a record of successful teaching at the university level, significant professional experience as a director, and an MFA in filmmaking or other appropriate, related terminal degree. 

With over 270 full-time undergraduate students, the Cinema Arts Department is one of three departments in the University's prestigious and nationally recognized Conservatory of Performing Arts. The department offers B.A. & B.F.A. degrees in Cinema Production, Screenwriting and Animation & Visual Effect. Acceptance into the programs are competitive, portfolio-based and at the discretion of the Cinema faculty. Once enrolled, Cinema students follow a rigorous 8-term course sequence that requires extensive crew collaboration, creative and technical mastery, as well as artistic vision and execution.
