Visiting Artist – Cinema & Digital Arts: The Cinema and Digital Arts Department in the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University invites applications for a full-time, one-year sabbatical replacement position to begin Fall 2012 at the rank of Visiting Artist.

The successful candidate will be able to teach general filmmaking classes with a narrative focus at the introductory and intermediate level, and have the versatility to teach a wide range of courses across the department’s curriculum, including basic film analysis and studies courses.  The ability to teach directing courses at the advanced level is also desired.

An ideal candidate for the position will have an MFA in film or other appropriate, related terminal degree.  Significant professional experience and a record of successful teaching at the university level are also strongly desired.

With over 250 full-time undergraduate students, the Cinema & Digital Arts Department is one of three departments in the University’s prestigious and nationally recognized Conservatory of Performing Arts.  The department offers B.A. degrees in cinema production, screenwriting and digital arts. Acceptance into the programs are competitive, portfolio-based and at the discretion of the Cinema faculty.  Once enrolled, Cinema students follow a rigorous 8-term course sequencing that requires extensive crew collaboration, creative and technical mastery, as well as artistic vision and execution.  The department has one of the highest enrollment and retention rates in the University.  Detailed information about our students’ experience in the program can be found at: www.pointpark.edu/cinema.
