Adjunct Faculty – Cinema Production:
The Cinema Arts Department in the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University seeks adjunct faculty to teach introductory and intermediate filmmaking classes. Applicants should be qualified to teach either basic camera, lighting and directing; or basic editing and post-production, including Adobe Premiere. Courses focus on producing short, narrative films.
It is desirable that applicants have experience teaching at the university level, professional experience in media production, and an MFA in filmmaking or other appropriate, related terminal degree. Applicants with a BA, but with significant professional or teaching experience, will also be considered.
With over 250 full-time undergraduate students, the Cinema Arts Department is one of three departments in the University's prestigious and nationally recognized Conservatory of Performing Arts. The department offers B.A. degrees in Cinema Production, Screenwriting and Animation. Acceptance into the programs are competitive, portfolio-based and at the discretion of the Cinema faculty. Once enrolled, Cinema students follow a rigorous 8-term course sequence that requires extensive crew collaboration, creative and technical mastery, as well as artistic vision and execution. The department has one of the highest enrollment and retention rates in the University. Detailed information about our students' experience in the program can be found at: www.pointpark.edu/cinema.
