The School of Communication at Point Park University seeks Part-time Faculty candidates for the following programs.  Part-time Faculty rates are per the collective bargaining agreement.  Part-time faculty should be willing to support the mission and vision of the School of Communication and demonstrate the following professional expertise:

  • Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success, with particular regard to information literacy
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to teach the courses or perform the duties effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to use presentation software (Acrobat, PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.,) as well as classroom technology (smart podiums, digital projectors, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate well with students of diverse academic, ethnic,
    socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds, including students with disabilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others

1. Broadcasting and Multimedia

Program:  Broadcast and Multimedia Production.

Education/Experience: Graduate Degree in Broadcasting, Multimedia, or related field Preferred, Bachelor’s degree with extensive experience considered.

Potential courses include: Radio Production, Video Production, Studio Production, Broadcast Copywriting, Broadcast Newswriting, On-Camera Performance, Broadcast Announcing, Writing for Multimedia and the Web, Intro to Multimedia, Web Publishing, Multimedia Production.


2. Commercial Photographer

Program:  Photography

Education/Experience: Commercial Photographer, MFA Preferred, Field Experience required

Potential courses include:  Business of Photography, Commercial Studio Photography, and Editorial Studio Photography.

 
3. Photography

Program:  Photography

Education/Experience: MFA Preferred, Experience with large format film photography, film and darkroom or professional post-production skills with an emphasis in drum scanning, custom color calibration tools and large format photographic printing desired.


4. 
Studio and Commercial Photography

Program:  Photography

Education/Experience: MFA Preferred, Experience with studio photography, commercial photography, digital photo editing, and photo printing desired; experience in studio and commercial photography to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in photography


5. 
Public Relations & Advertising

Programs:  PR, Advertising, and Integrated Marketing Communications.

Education/Experience: Graduate Degree in PR, Ad, or related field Preferred, Bachelor’s degree with extensive experience considered.

Potential courses include: PR Writing, Introduction to PR and Advertising, IMC Research, and Social Media.


6. 
Radio Production and Podcasting

Program:  Radio Production and Podcasting.

Education/Experience: Graduate Degree in Broadcasting or related field Preferred, Bachelor’s degree with extensive experience considered.

Potential courses include: Radio Production, Advanced Radio Production, Broadcast Announcing, Podcasting


7. 
Sports Communication

Program:  Sports Communication.

Education/Experience: Graduate Degree in Broadcasting or related field Preferred, Bachelor’s degree with extensive experience considered. The successful candidate will have experience in play by play and/or color commentary, and an expansive knowledge of the sports communication field.

Potential courses include: Sports Broadcasting and Sports Podcasting as well as print and digital sports coverage.
