Graduate Assistant - Point Park News Service

Position opening: Graduate Assistant, Point Park News Service

Department: School of Communication

Term of appointment: One-year assignment, renewable for second year, beginning with the fall 2017 semester. Assignment is 8 months, late August until early May.

Salary: $6,400 ($3,200 per semester) annual stipend plus fully paid tuition and fees.

Requirements: Undergraduate degree in journalism, mass communication, media studies, or similar degree. Professional and/or student media experience in journalism or mass communication field preferred. Applicants for this assistantship must already have been admitted into the M.A. program and must commit to enroll in a minimum of nine (9) credits per semester. The application processes for the graduate program and graduate assistantships are separate.

Primary duties: Graduate assistant will support the Point Park News Service. Graduate assistant will solicit and edit stories for the news service, coordinate stories and reporting assignments with students and professors/instructors, maintain and update the Point Park News Service website and carry out other duties as assigned, and must maintain a presence in the Point Park News Service office five hours per day Mondays through Thursdays.
