Career Counselor (part-time)

POSITION: Career Counselor (Part-time)              

REPORTS TO: Associate Dean of Campus Life 

REQUIREMENTS:    
Bachelor’s degree in student personnel or related field experience; minimum of 2-3 years experience in career counseling or related field required; experience in higher education counseling a variety of students; computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Access and Excel. Experience in the Arts is desirable.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:               
Responsible for advising and counseling students and alumni concerning career planning and employment opportunities in order for students to explore career options, engage in self-assessment, obtain occupational information and present themselves effectively as candidates.

DUTIES: 

  1. Advising and counseling of students and alumni concerning careers and employment. 
  2. Advises students career options, assists them in self-assessment (MBTI or Keirsey Temperament knowledgeable), provides occupational information and assists them to present themselves effectively as candidates.  
  3. Provides activities and programs for students relating to career development.  
  4. Provides support for the Point Park Career Network system, career development website, and interacts with employers, accepting and posting various job postings. 
  5. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Campus Life.
