POSITION: STUDIO TECHNICIAN
DEPARTMENT: Center for Information Technology
REPORTS TO: Studio Supervisor
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor or Technical degree in related field preferred
- One to three years relevant experience in multimedia, a/v educational technology
- Expertise with TV studio systems, video cameras, audio and lighting equipment required
- Supervisory experience preferred
- The ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel
- The ability to be effective while handling multiple projects and requests
- Excellent organization and problem solving skills
- Commitment to customer service
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To assist in the day-to-day operations of an educational TV studio / film soundstage facility. Consult with Studio Manager about daily requests and issues. The successful candidate must have a sense of urgency, and high energy level. A prime emphasis will be placed on the development of customer service. Administrative office support (answering phones/stocking office supplies, etc.)
DUTIES:
- Provide technical support to faculty and students using the studio - primarily during, but not limited to, weekday hours of 4:00 -10:00pm.
- Perform basic maintenance, repairs, cleaning and updates on studio equipment
- Maintain daily documentation and procedural information
- Wear appropriate dress according to the University’s dress code
- Supervise and train Studio Assistant work-studies on use of studio equipment and procedures
- Work closely with and act as a backup to the Studio Manager and the SPS Operations Manager
- Act as an extension of the SPS Operations Manager by supervising SPS Assistants working the equipment room and edit suites weekday evenings
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to climb ladders to a minimum height of 10 feet; must be able to lift at least 30 lbs.
