Robert A. Miller, acclaimed Hollywood producer, director and screenwriter, will give Point Park University's undergraduate Commencement address on Saturday, May 4, at 10 a.m. at Consol Energy Center in Downtown Pittsburgh. Point Park will award baccalaureate degrees to 679 undergraduate students.

Miller has enjoyed a career in film, television and the music industry for more than 30 years. He is best known for producing the film The Crucible, nominated for two Academy Awards and featuring actors Daniel Day-Lewis, Winona Ryder, Joan Allen and Paul Scofield. His directorial credits include the Company of Angels in Hollywood; Bend in the River, a live PBS broadcast featuring Ken Kesey; documentaries, commercial and educational films. More recently, Miller produced the film Focus, starring William H. Macy, Laura Dern, David Paymer and Meat Loaf. He was also the co-producer, director and cameraman on Sunshine Daydreams, a Grateful Dead performance movie.

For the past 20 years, Miller has produced a variety of television commercials for diverse clients such as Coca-Cola, Jaguar, Visa and McDonald's. Also a veteran of the music video industry, Miller has produced videos by leading artists including Huey Lewis and the News, Lou Reed, Don Felder, Randy Newman and ZZ Top.

Miller directed several plays for Point Park's professional theatre company, The REP, including his first-ever production of his father, Arthur Miller's, Pulitzer Prize-winning play Death of a Salesman in 2009. He also directed The REP's world premieres of The Umbrella Man in 2010 and A Child's Guide to Heresy in 2011, and he is a producer of the movie The Umbrella Man, filmed in 2012 in Pittsburgh and Dallas.

Miller has been associated with Conservatory of Performing Arts and Pittsburgh Playhouse artistic director Ron Lindblom since 2003, and has served as a Distinguished Master Artist in Residence at the Conservatory of Performing Arts since 2009.
