The REP, Point Park University's professional theatre company, will be producing four works, including one world premiere, in its 2009 - 2010 season which opens September 11 and runs through June 13.

The REP will open the season with Jason Miller's That Championship Season directed by Robert A. Miller. That Championship Season tells the story of a group of basketball players who come together in Scranton, PA for a 20-year reunion with their former coach. Once stars on the court, they now yearn to be saved from their own lives. Holding onto fraudulent memories lost in what once was, they must together face what they have become and decide if they can redeem themselves for one last chance at glory. Bitingly humorous, That Championship Season was the winner of the "Triple Crown" of theatre awards, scoring a Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award as Best Play of the Season. That Championship Season previews on Thursday, Sept. 11, and runs from Friday, Sept. 11 through Sunday, Sept. 27 in the Rauh Theater.

The Queens by Norman Chaurette takes the stage in November. Directed by Sheila McKenna with choreography by Andre Koslowski, this evocative fantasy drama based on Shakespeare's Richard III depicts the classic struggle for power and status as six queens vie for the throne. From the aged Duchess of York, who is 99 years old, to young Lady Anne, who must marry Richard III in order to reign, to the Duchess' daughter Anne Dexter who has no hands, the play traces the shifting passions and ambitions of the six women who are trapped in a world they vie to control, where nothing quite goes as it should. These noble women find themselves caught in the complex dance of life, grappling with selfish aims, painful losses and the blinding desire for the crown. The Queens previews on Thursday, Nov. 19 and runs from Friday, Nov. 20 to Sunday, Nov. 22 and Thursday, Dec. 3 through Sunday, Dec. 13 in the Studio Theater.

Sam's Shepard's controversial Buried Child ushers in 2010. Directed by John Shepard, this Pulitzer Prize-winning drama takes a macabre look at one American Midwestern family with a very dark secret, probing deeply into the disintegration of the American Dream. When Vince brings his girlfriend home to meet his family, she is at first charmed by the picturesque farm house - that's before she actually meets his crazy family--his ranting, alcoholic grandparents and their two sons. Strangely, no one seems to remember Vince at first, and they treat him as an intruder. Eventually, however, they seem to accept him as a part of their violently dysfunctional family. When the truth is shockingly unearthed, the family must try to move past their devastatingly dark curse. Buried Child previews on Thursday, Feb. 4 and runs Friday, Feb. 5 through Sunday, Feb. 21 in the Studio Theater.

The REP closes its season with the world premiere of Tammy Ryan's A Confluence of Dreaming, directed by John Amplas. A Confluence of Dreaming tells the story of Carol, an underappreciated and seemingly invisible suburban homemaker who finds herself wondering what the hell happened to her life. She rediscovers long-lost thrill and passion in the secret, sexy world of cyberspace. Taking place in Pittsburgh during the summer of 2001, Carol solicits a face to face meeting with her online lover in New York City. When fantasy collides with reality in his studio apartment, Carol confronts the choices she's made against the desires she has suppressed in the quest for self-fulfillment. A Confluence of Dreaming previews Thursday, May 27 and runs Friday, May 28 through Sunday, June 13 in the Studio Theater.
