Tuesday, November 06, 2012

M.H. Sidky, Ph.D., professor of global management and organization in the School of Business, recently received a master’s degree in international cooperation and humanitarian aid from the Humanitarian Aid Studies Centre.

“The International Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid degree program allowed me to update my education and training in global affairs and socio-economic development and introduced me to many new and promising areas of theory, research and practice in the field,” said Sidky. “This experience promises to be of great value to my research and teaching here at Point Park.”

According to Sidky, major topics covered in the program included project management, issues of problem definition, strategy formulation, implementation and evaluation. Issues of ethics, respect for human rights, environmental rights and international law were also emphasized.

“As a faculty member in the Department of Global Management and Organization, I found this program to be very useful in presenting a systemic, dynamic and people-centered approach to the challenges of global crisis and conflict management. The importance of international cooperation cannot be understated in a world where serious challenges threaten our ability to lead safe, productive and dignified lives. Central to all this is the promotion of effective, ethical, and efficient management strategies which are vital to socio-economic sustainability and development,” Sidky explained.
