Students Explore The Creative Side of Filmmaking with 'Chair' Producers

Monday, February 17, 2014

The Chair” executive producers Zachary Quinto and Neal Dodson presented “The Creative Side of Filmmaking: Building a Lasting Career,” on Feb. 17 in the GRW Theater.

"Part of the value of being in school is that you are in an environment in which you can fail, and that's an absolute essential part of the creative process," Quinto said.

Quinto and Dodson discussed how they got their start in the industry, offered career advice and held a Q&A session with the students.

Watch the entire presentation on Point Park University's YouTube channel, or by viewing it below. Remote participants were invited to tweet in their questions using #MakingTheChair.

Point Park University is an executive producer of “The Chair,” a new documentary series based in Pittsburgh following two directors as they compete to make the best feature film from the same script.

More than 100 Point Park students and alumni will work on the TV series and two feature films. The series will air on a paid cable channel this fall.
