Quantum Theatre staging world premiere of play by two M.F.A. graduates
Thursday, December 01, 2011
The world premiere of Fat Beckett, a play by Gab Cody and Rita Reis, 2011 graduates of Point Park University’s Master of Fine Arts in Acting program, is set for Dec. 1-18.
The play, being produced by Quantum Theatre, will be staged at the Old Schoolhouse in Lawrenceville.
Cody and Reis wrote the play and will also be performing the piece. Fat Beckett is a “female response to the great Samuel Beckett’s men who wait.”
The play is directed by Sam Turich.
Cody’s plays have been staged at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami, the Williamstown Theatre Festival, NYC’s Urban Stages, as well as the Bricolage Theater Company’s 24-hour play festival B.U.S. and No Name Players’ SWAN Day festival.
Reis’ theatre credits include Uncle Vanya, Autumn Sonata, La Poche Parmentier, The Good Person of Szechwan, Portrait de famille, Ce n'était que pour rire, Lumouxe, Les pieds sur terre, Nous, Satiété, Rockaby and Casino Liberty.
