Night at the Movies - Screening of Student Films

You're invited to a cinematic experience on the big screen. View some of the exciting films our cinema students are producing. This collection of short films promises to have something for everyone, from comedy to drama, and represents work developed in an array of cinema courses from freshman production classes to digital tools to senior thesis projects. These films would generally be rated at the PG-13 level, as some may contain strong language and/or violence.

Men's & Women's Cross Country

The Point Park University men's and women's cross country teams are competing in the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational Oct. 8 in Schenley Park in Oakland. Watch the Pioneers compete in the women's 6K at 10 a.m. and the men's 8K at 11 a.m.  The start and finish of the course is at the Schenley Oval. Shuttle service is not provided for this event.

Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium

One of only six major zoo and aquarium combinations in the country, the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium is located on 77 acres in Pittsburgh’s Highland Park neighborhood.  The zoo exhibits thousands of animals representing hundreds of species, including 20 threatened or endangered species. You and your family are able to enjoy all the park has to offer at your leisure. Shuttle service is not provided for this event.

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, a great steel and glass Victorian greenhouse, has been inviting visitors to explore the beauty and mysteries of plants since 1893. Set amidst one of Pittsburgh's largest greenspaces, Schenley Park, Phipps Conservatory stands as a cultural and architectural centerpiece of the city's Oakland neighborhood.  In recent decades, Phipps has evolved into one of the region's most vibrant, thriving cultural attractions, bringing fresh perspectives and artists into their historic glasshouse environment. Phipps has also become a strong advocate for advanced green-building practices, sustainable gardening and a new environmental awareness. Shuttle service is not provided for this event.

Family Weekend Shuttle

Continuous looping shuttle service will be available to those families who wish to visit and enjoy some of Pittsburgh’s charming and unique neighborhoods on their own. National Aviary

The National Aviary is America’s only independent indoor nonprofit zoo dedicated exclusively to birds. Located in West Park on Pittsburgh’s historic North Side, the National Aviary’s diverse collection comprises more than 500 birds representing more than 150 species from around the world, many of them threatened or endangered in the wild. The National Aviary’s large walk-through exhibits create an experience unlike any other – an intimate, up-close interaction between visitors and free-flying birds, including opportunities to hand-feed and meet many species rarely found in zoos anywhere else in the world.
