Living and Learning Community programming, as a part of the Office of Campus Life, is designed to assist in the process of establishing Living and Learning Communities within Point Park’s residence halls. The goal of the Office of Campus Life and the Living and Learning Communities is to provide all students with citizenship and conflict resolution skills, the practice of civil interaction, clarity of communication, and self awareness.
Through the Community Standards Initiative set forth by the Office of Campus Life and Living and Learning Community Programming, Point Park residents have the opportunity to establish their own living standards for their community as well as their individual rooms.

New for Fall 2011!
Socially Connected
Do you “like” to be up to date with the latest trends in social media? Do you “Stumble Upon” awesome blogs and Youtube videos? Does Tumblr just make you want to “tweet” for joy? Whether you’re scheming to launch the next social media sensation yourself, get LinkedIN or want to Check In, this just in, “there’s a floor for that!”
All Things Pittsburgh
Take the incline to the top of Mount Washington, become a fan of the City of Champions’ many sports teams, learn key phrases of Pittsburghese, and SO much more. Whether you’re a native Pittsburgh-er, or new to the neighborhood, this floor is your first class ticket to the Steel City and all it has to offer!
Art for Art's Sake
Painters, sketchers, photographers, sculptors, graphic artists, and those of you whose creations cannot be classified, the Art for Art's Sake Community will be the place to live. Besides visiting museums, discussing the dazzling architecture of Pittsburgh, you will be attending art exhibit openings, designing a whole new "look" for your floor, including the walls and ceilings. In addition, you will show and mount an exhibition of your community's work at the end of the year.
Fashion Gurus
If you find yourself cutting up old tee-shirts to create something new and unique, or you watch the awards shows only for the red carpet, the Fashion Guru community is your new home. Working with your CF, residents will design tee-shirts for the community, take trips to Pittsburgh's trendiest boutiques, and even produce a runway fashion show at the end of the year.
For the Record
Whether you're an American hardcore fan, a country music junkie, a hip-hop enthusiast, or can't get enough of Beethoven, the For the Record community is all about music: listening, playing, arguing about how good it is or isn't. The CF will help to plan appreciation nights, "fan nights," and visits to hear both local and national artists. If you know Henry Rollins, Richard Wagner, Run DMC, Pavement, or the Dixie Chicks - this is your home.
Global Perspectives
For those who want to travel and to come to a deeper understanding of the global community we all share, this is your floor. Working with your CF, you will host international visitors, examine other cultures - their customs, beliefs, art, and see how the "global village" affects our lives.
Healthy Lifestyles/Outdoor Adventure
Nutrition fitness, natural and organic diets, hiking trips, and kayaking on Pittsburgh's three rivers is just part of the activities of the Healthy Lifestyles / Outdoor Adventure community. Trips to the Whole Foods for shopping, vegetarian cooking, organized fitness activities and outdoor experiences in conjunction with Student Activities are all on the menu.
All Female Floor
The All Female Floor is dedicated to those female students who do not wish to live on a co-educational floor within the residence halls. This floor was incorporated into the Living and Learning Community Program by having the opportunity to create their own LLC theme and name.
Previous themes have included such as "Pretty in Pink" and "Fine! Fresh! Fierce! Female Floor."

Silver Screen
Do you find yourself quoting movies? Are your walls lined with movie poster after movie poster? Then the Silver Screen living and learning community is the place for you. Pittsburgh is deep in film history with the first Nickelodeon Theater actually being located on Smithfield Street just a block away from Point Park University. Students will work together with their CF to host University screening nights or private sessions for the floor. Become exposed to the world of international and American movies by living in the Silver Screen community.
Sporting Life
This is for the die-hard, rabid sports fan. If you are glued to the TV for Monday Night Football, can recite the stats for major league starting line ups, have hockey in your blood or make it a point to be familiar with every "X-treme" sport out there; this floor is for you! Working with your CF, you'll design fantasy football, baseball, and hockey; attend games, and come to understand the culture and business of sports.
Writer's Colony
If you're someone who loves to write, you're a closet poet, a short-story "spinner," or maybe you avidly keep a journal, the Writers' Colony will provide you an outlet for these interests. Working with the CF, there'll be visits to book signings, discussions with faculty and authors, and writing workshops.
Paranormal Activity
While we don't know of any poltergiests scampering aroung Thayer Hall, if you have an abiding interest in the paranormal, this is the community for you. Investigate Pittsburgh's own ghost stories, including the "Lawrence Hall Shuffler;" visit Penn States Parapsychology Department to learn how the pros do it. This community promises to be and provide unique experiences all year.
Gamers Floor
The Gamers Floor is a freshman Living and Learning Community that unites board, video, and card gamers alike. For students who are interessted in showing their wit in scrabble, dominating with their strategy in Human versus Zombies, or demolishing their opponent in a game of NHL on xbox, this is a perfect fit. The CF will help plan and coordinate floor wide gaming events and competitions for all styles of gamers that can be as small as a game of cards within the residence halls to as large as a University-wide Halo tournament.
