Registration is required for this event.

Families who have not registered but would like to participate in Family Weekend may inquire at check-in.
We will try and accommodate walk-in registrations as much as possible, subject to ticket availability.
Registration fees may be paid in cash or by check; credit cards will not be accepted.

Night at the Movies - Screening of Student Films

You're invited to a cinematic experience on the big screen. View some of the exciting films our cinema students are producing. This collection of short films promises to have something for everyone, from comedy to drama, and represents work developed in an array of cinema courses from freshman production classes to digital tools to senior thesis projects. These films would generally be rated at the PG-13 level, as some may contain strong language and/or violence.

As per the 2013-14 academic calendar, accelerated classes for Saturday, Oct. 12, are on break.

All other Saturday classes will meet as scheduled.

Also, please keep in mind that even though students may not have classes on Saturday,
they may have other school-related obligations such as show rehearsals, athletic games, etc.

Family Weekend Shuttle

Continuous looping shuttle service will be available to those families who wish to visit and enjoy some of Pittsburgh’s charming and unique shopping districts on their own.

Carnegie Museums of Art & Natural History     

The Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh have a fascinating history dating back 118 years. Today, they are a collection of four dynamic, distinctive museums, and the Pittsburgh region’s home for great art and science exploration. Admission will include the Museums of Art and Natural History in Oakland. For more information, visit the Carnegie Museums website.

Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium     

One of six major zoo and aquarium combinations in the country, the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium is located on 77 acres in Pittsburgh Highland Park neighborhood. The zoo exhibits thousands of animals representing hundreds of species, including 22 threatened or endangered species. You and your family are able to enjoy all the park has to offer at your convenience.  For more information, visit the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium website.

Athletic Events

In its first year as a member of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member, the Point Park University athletic department won the 2012-13 KIAC Commissioner's All-Sports Cup, the all-sports trophy that ranks each school in the KIAC in terms of overall strength of their athletic department. Point Park took home the KIAC Commissioner's Cup thanks to high finishes in the KIAC in many of its 11 varsity sports.

Men's & Women's Cross Country at CMU Invitational

Point Park University men's cross country was named an NAIA Scholar team for 2012-13 with a team GPA of 3.31. It was the highest GPA for a men's sport at Point Park and ranked 20th in NAIA men's cross country.  Shuttle service is not provided for this event. For more information about the sportsplex and directions please visit the Citiparks website

Men's Soccer vs. Asbury (KY)

This is slated to be the best home game of the year, as it is a rematch of last year's Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference final, which was won by Point Park, 5-4. Highmark Stadium is just across the Monongahela River in Station Square. Fans can choose a quick drive over on their own, take the Family Weekend Shuttle which stops in Station Square) or take a 15-20 minute walk over the Smithfield Street Bridge.
