Position opening: Graduate Assistant - School of Communication, Marketing and Outreach

Department: School of Communication

Term of appointment: One academic year assignment, with opportunity for renewal for fall 2025 semester. Appointment begins with the fall 2024 semester (late August) and lasts through end of April. .

Salary: $10.00 per hour, up to $3,200 per semester (for a total of $6,400 for the academic year), plus fully paid tuition and fees.

Requirements: Undergraduate degree in journalism, mass communication, public relations, advertising, social media, marketing, media studies, or similar degree. Professional and/or student media experience in public relations, advertising or mass communication field preferred. Applicants for this assistantship must already have been admitted into the School of Communication M.A. program and must commit to enroll in a minimum of nine (9) credits per semester. The application processes for the graduate program and graduate assistantships are separate.

Primary duties: Graduate assistant will support the School of Communication’s dean and faculty chair. Responsibilities will include overseeing and creation of School newsletters; overseeing creation and scheduling of content for the School’s social media channels; assistance in event planning, recruitment and program assessment; oversight of practicum and work study students as needed; occasional attendance at events (schedule permitting), and other research and communication projects as needed.
