Department: Department of Community Engagement

Term of appointment: Two-year assignment (with the option to renew for a third year if pursuing a doctoral program), beginning with the fall 2024 semester. Assignment is 8 months, late August until late April.

Salary: $10.00 per hour (required 10 hours/week), up to $1,600 per semester, plus half tuition.

Requirements: Undergraduate degree in journalism, graphic design, marketing, social media, community engagement or similar.  Professional and/or student media experience in journalism, public relations, marketing, graphic design or mass communication field preferred. Nonprofit experience a plus.  Applicants for this assistantship must already have been admitted into a University graduate program (either Masters or Doctoral level) and must be a full-time student, enrolled in a minimum of nine (9) credits per semester for Masters students, six (6) credits per semester for Doctoral students. The application processes for the graduate programs and graduate assistantships are separate. 

Primary duties: Graduate assistant will support the Department of Community Engagement in marketing the department and working on nonprofit outreach with Wood Street Communications. Duties will include assisting the program director with outreach, marketing and administration; maintaining and growing our social media presence, creating and implementing outreach and public relations campaigns and initiatives for the program, and overseeing and implementing strategies in recruiting, retention and event planning for the program. Student will be expected to work on campus an average of 10 hours per week.
