POSITION:  Assistant Vice President of Athletic Fundraising

DEPARTMENT:  Athletics

REPORTS TO:  Vice President for Athletics

SCHEDULE:  Hybrid

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Responsible for all fund raising for athletic programs, including major gift cultivation and solicitation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, marketing, communication or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years experience in fundraising, preferable in a sports-related or university setting. Experience in major gift solicitation, donor relations, and event planning is valuable.
  • Strong fundraising skills, including the ability to cultivate relationships, solicit major gifts, and manage fundraising campaigns.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to lead a team, collaborate with others, and drive results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with donors, sponsors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • A passion for athletics and an understanding of the role of athletics in higher education or the community.
  • Experience in managing budgets and financial resources effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising software.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Developing and implementing fundraising strategies to support athletic programs.
  2. Cultivating relationships with donors and sponsors to secure financial support.
  3. Organizing fundraising events to support athletics programs.
  4. Creating and maintaining donor databases and records.
  5. Collaborating with athletic department staff to identify fundraising needs.
  6. Writing grant proposals and seeking out grant opportunities.
  7. Managing fundraising budgets and tracking financial progress.
  8. Providing reports on fundraising activities and outcomes.
  9. Other related duties as assigned.
