The mission of Point Park University's Office of International Student Services and Enrollment is to assist in immigration, education and cultural aspects of study in the US for International students and to promote international awareness campus-wide by fostering an appreciation for diversity by helping students understand their role and responsibilities as global citizens.
With this in mind, our commitment is to provide Point Park University’s International student population with specialized services essential to both their academic success and cultural adjustment. Our services can be divided in two categories: Immigration Services and ISS Programs.
Immigration Services
In order to study in the USA, International students will need to obtain a visa prior to leaving their country for the US. Though the American visa system can be daunting at times, there is no reason to fear: the process for obtaining a student visa is nothing but straightforward. While International students looking to study at Point Park will need to become familiar with US immigration laws and visa application procedure, the ISS office is there to provide them with the following services:
· Immigration advising
· Visa compliance issue
· Coordination of deferred payment plans
· Scholarship and financial assistance
ISS Programs
By choosing to study in the USA, International students must make great sacrifices including leaving behind their friends, families, favorite foods, and lifestyles. To help them adjust to their new surroundings and maximize their time at Point Park, the ISS office is devoted to bringing events and activities—both on- and off-campus—to acclimate International students to their new community, promoting cultural exchanges, and—ultimately—bridging any existent cultural gaps. Some of the ISS Programs include:
· New international students orientation
· International Club advisement
· Coordination of trips and cultural events
· International Week celebrations
