Why did you decide to attend Point Park and major in mechanical engineering technology?

I chose this major and Point Park because the professors are brilliant, the class sizes are small and the location isn't far from home. Being that I have to commute, it is perfect. The small class sizes allow for more one-on-one time with professors rather than a lecture hall scenario where I would be just another number in the crowd. The professors at Point Park really care about their students.

How did the Career Development Center help you land your internship?

I originally visited the Career Development Center in hopes of finding a summer internship but that wasn't in the cards for me at the time. That didn't get me down though. Plus, every so often I was receiving emails about possible internships from Santina Frazer, career counselor for the School of Arts and Sciences. This was how I learned about my current internship. After applying, I was selected for an interview and soon after, I was delighted to hear that I had been chosen as a mechanical engineering intern.

How has this internship helped you with your career goals?

This internship has given me knowledge as to how to work in a team to reach set goals. I work alongside my boss on projects and what I am tasked with has given me a good bit of experience that I can take into the field of engineering after I graduate.

What have you enjoyed most about being a student at Point Park?

I have definitely enjoyed the people I got to meet in my classes and the knowledge I gained from my professors and from working with my fellow students. The courses are always interesting and the labs that accompany most of the classes are a blast. I enjoy learning and I always walk away from these classes knowing that I have gained a better understanding of the concepts of engineering.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

My experience at Point Park has been amazing. Once I'm out in the world after college, I will be able to put to good use the things I have learned here. I want to send out a thank you to all of the professors, faculty and friends I have met at Point Park who have helped me become who I wanted to be.
