Representatives from Hokkaido University of Education in Sapporo, Japan traveled across the world to visit Point Park University on Dec. 8 and learn more about its sport, arts and entertainment management program. They met with Steve Tanzilli, J.D., assistant professor and director of the SAEM program; Dimitris Kraniou, Ph.D., professor and chair of the Department of Global Management and Organization; Archish Maharaja, Ed.D., assistant professor and director of the MBA program and Angela Isaac, Ph.D., dean of the School of Business.
The representatives also visited the Pittsburgh Playhouse and toured the West Penn Building, home of the School of Business. In addition, several MBA students gave the Japanese visitors a tour of the rest of Point Park's Downtown Pittsburgh campus.
"The Japanese government encouraged us to visit Point Park and learn about the University's unique SAEM program," said Ito Ryuske, assistant professor at Hokkaido University of Education. "Your SAEM program is very comprehensive and challenging. We are quite impressed and would like to keep in touch so that we can explore opportunities for joint work."
Maharaja said that the Hokkaido University of Education representatives learned about internships available within the SAEM program as well as the option in Point Park's MBA program to concentrate in SAEM.
"The representatives were very impressed with our practical hands-on approach to teaching and how we have integrated business into the sport, arts and entertainment management aspects of our program," said Tanzilli.
