The Student Accounting Association at Point Park University recently hosted presentations by Ron Mock, founding partner of Mock Bosco & Associates, P.C. and his son, Jeff Mock, audit manager at Ernst & Young.

Student Accounting Association hosts guest speakers on Nov. 15.

The two accounting professionals spoke about their work experiences and discussed with students the pros and cons of working for small versus large public accounting firms.

"This was a great opportunity for our students to get an inside look at how public accounting firms operate," remarked Amy Cesario, C.P.A., M.B.A., visiting assistant professor of accounting.

Courtney Geruschat, a junior accounting major and president of the Student Accounting Association, was one of the students who attended the Nov. 15 event.

"Ron and Jeff's presentations were fun and relaxing. They made us feel like they really wanted to be there and it meant a lot to us for them to talk about their work," said Geruschat.

In addition to going to school full time, Geruschat works as a loan processor for the Beaver Valley Federal Credit Union. Following graduation, she plans to pursue an M.B.A. degree at Point Park.

"It is important for students to be a part of the Student Accounting Association because it can help them learn about what they want to do in the future with their accounting careers," explained Geruschat. "I have enjoyed the experience so far and the network of people I have come to know."
