Why did you choose Point Park University?

I chose Point Park for the sports, arts and entertainment management program. I loved the idea of focusing on event management within a business degree. I also loved that Point Park is right in Downtown Pittsburgh!

How are you involved on campus?

On campus I'm involved with the Body Christian Fellowship club. I'm on the leadership team as the treasurer, and I also lead women's group.

Who is your favorite staff member?

My favorite staff member is Brad Kovalcik, the director of Student Activities, Involvement and Leadership (SAIL). I have worked in the SAIL office since my freshman year, and I have been involved with the Campus Activities Board and the Alternative Spring Break program. Brad has been one of my mentors at Point Park. He's incredibly wise, hilarious and has such a passion for working with students.

How has Point Park prepared you for graduation?

Point Park has prepared me in so many ways. My professors have offered so much guidance and wisdom, and have given me confidence in my knowledge and abilities. They have encouraged hands-on experiences through internships, shadowing and volunteering, which has pushed me out of my comfort zone. Having leadership roles in extracurricular activities also played a huge part in my preparation and confidence for this transition.

Pittsburgh is often noted as a "Most Livable City." What do you think makes it worthy of this award?

Pittsburgh is so beautiful - how could anyone not want to live here? I think Pittsburgh is deserving of the award because it has so much to offer. From our universities, to art and entertainment, to trendy neighborhoods and sports teams, it's pretty amazing to call this great city home!

On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate the Primanti's sandwich and why?

I definitely give the sandwich a 9, especially the cheese steak. Who could possibly be opposed to a sandwich with French fries on it? As a true Pittsburgher I don't think you're allowed to give it less than an 8.

What advice would you give to incoming students?

Get involved early! Join clubs, apply for leadership opportunities, volunteer and learn from upperclassmen. Getting involved is how you'll meet your best friends, grow confident in your skills and find what you're passionate about. The lasting memories you'll have from college will be the ones where you left your comfort zone, tried new things and got involved.
