Point Park Professors and Student Receive Accolades From The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania

Two Point Park professors received Golden Quill awards at the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania’s 45th annual Golden Quill Awards this month. The Golden Quills competition recognizes professional excellence in written, photographic, broadcast and online journalism in Western Pennsylvania.

Bill Moushey, associate professor, won the Quill for sports writing, Daily Newspapers and Wire Services, Circulation Over 45,000, for his "High School Athlete Transfers," Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article. He was also a finalist in the Enterprise/Investigative Series, Daily Newspapers and Wire Services, circulation Over 45,000, "PIAA Ref Checks."

Andrew Conte, an adjunct instructor and director of the Point Park News Service, a partnership with Trib Total Media, won the Quill for Enterprise/Investigative Series, Daily Newspapers and Wire Services, Circulation Over 45,000, "Transplanting Too Soon," which was co-written by Luis Fabregas and published in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. That series also won the club’s Ray Sprigle Memorial Award.

Also receiving recognition was Brittany Hoke of Mt. Pleasant, a junior at Point Park University.  Brittany received the club’s $5,000 scholarship, given annually via a competition sponsored by the club to an aspiring journalism student.
