“Everyone’s unique; learning should be, too,” says Dr. Vincenne Revilla Beltran, director and founder of Project Children L.E.A.D. of Point Park University’s Education Department.

“The interactive workshops will provide education professionals who work with K-12 students as well as college teachers and administrators with best practices in engaging diverse learners using online instruction.”

The keynote speaker will be Lenny Schad, the deputy superintendent of information and technology service at the Katy Independent School District in Texas. Schad has proven expertise in combining broad-based technology with business and financial knowledge to expand online learning opportunities. His talk is entitled “The Five E’s & How Technology Can Meet the Needs of Diverse Learners.”  Other speakers include Tim Devlin of Allegheny Intermediate Unit AIU 3 and Amiena Mahsoob of the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh.

Conference participants will have time to visit the Social Media Lounge and meet with members of the Social Media and Related Technology, or S.M.A.R.T., team for help setting up or expanding social media presence on Linkedin, Twitter, Second Life, Google Docs, and more.

Early bird registration for the 2011 conference is $35 if paid in full by April 30, 2011, and $40 after May 1, 2011. Registration includes materials and continental breakfast. Educators and administrators can view the conference agenda, learn more and register at “Engaging Diverse Learners through Online Instruction.”
