Point Park Brings M.B.A. Program to Corporate Offices
Tuesday, June 05, 2012
For ten employees of the South Side-based company invivodata, school starts when the work day ends.
invivodata, a global company providing electronic solutions to biopharmaceutical companies, is the latest business in the region to take advantage of Point Park University’s unique on-site M.B.A program which delivers a fully accredited, accelerated M.B.A. degree to employees at their offices.
According to Archish Maharaja
, Ed.D., C.P.A., assistant professor of business management and director of the Master of Business Administration program
, “Companies like invivodata appreciate the flexibility and convenience the on-site MBA programs offers their employees.” In addition, Point Park is able to utilize a company’s existing technology infrastructure to deliver the program on-site or remotely for those traveling for work. On-site M.B.A. instructors are the same as those teaching at Point Park’s physical campus in downtown Pittsburgh.
Point Park University’s on-site corporate M.B.A. program was launched in the fall of 2009. To date the program has graduated 28 students.
Before bringing the program to its offices, invivodata polled its employees to determine their interest in earning their M.B.A.s after work and found, according to Jodi Andrews, the company’s Senior Marketing Manager, “many of us had a strong interest in pursuing our graduate degrees but with work and family commitments, were unable to find time.” Now, ten invivodata employees take M.B.A. classes once a week for a 24 month period and will earn their M.B.A.s in 2014.
“Another benefit to the on-site program is that our classroom time is a great opportunity to work on issues that we are currently experiencing in the business” added Andrews. “Being able to apply real-world situations to our class work is invaluable and can ultimately improve the way we work as a team.”
