Point Park University's Department of Cinema & Digital Arts will host a retrospective festival of the films of legendary director Luchino Visconti and his nephew Eriprando Visconti, Sept. 21-23, 2012. The festival is sponsored in conjunction with the John P. Harris Society, Point Park's student film group, and the Italian Cultural Institute of the Embassy of Italy, Washington, D.C.
Eight films will be screened in the George R. White Theatre in Point Park's University Center, 200 Wood Street, Downtown. All of the screenings are part of the history of cinema curriculum in the cinema & digital arts program.
Two members of the Visconti family, Edoardo and Orensia Visconti, will be visiting from Italy to present a lecture and program, "Visconti/Visconti," about their famous relative.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to actually get a tangible grasp on what they are learning in the history and analysis courses," said Chris Sepesy, an adjunct professor in the Cinema & Digital Arts Department. "Events like this show that Point Park is a very dynamic school with international outreach."
Any member of the Point Park community and the Point Park community-at-large is invited to participate in these valuable screenings. All events are free of charge.
